Asia’s BEST in the Nation’s Economic Epicenter

The Cebu Technological University is an ISO-certified, Level-IV, premier institution that spans across the region. It exhibits  an active role in  strategic positions in the nation’s economic hub, as nine (9) campuses in Cebu City(Main), Argao, Barili,  Carmen, Daanbantayan, Danao, Moalboal, San Francisco, Tuburan and eleven (11) extension campuses in Bonbon, Naga, San Fernando, Bitoon, Pinamungahan, Oslob, Samboan, Malabuyoc,  San Remegio, Tabugon and Bantayan Island  have continuously delivered services to a growing population of over 30, 000 students.

CTU  connects the segmented  landscape  by supplying the  growing demands of the community through advanced and higher education services, research and extension and over 100 partner agencies in the local, national and international levels.

Scholarship grants awarded to over 10,000 applicants every year also provide a substantial   support to the nation’s thrust: Education for All.

Relevant to the recent market economy are  course offerings embedded in the institution’s  areas of specialization through the College of Engineering , College of Technology, College of Agriculture, College of Fisheries, College of Education, and College of Arts and Sciences. Career options   encourage   the clientele to pursue any of the  degree programs especially those in the Technical-Vocational strand.   Postgraduate studies   as a necessary venue   for mastery also   creates a much wider scope for innovation.

The university’s Research and Development Services   is tremendously reaping new   knowledge (turned into technology) as a result of over 19 million GAA funding   for more than 40 research activities aside from the STF-funded studies. Over 23,000 beneficiaries   in different sectors   have also enjoyed the faculty’s positive behavior toward raising the quality   of life. The hefty amount allocated for research especially with the   MOA signing with DSWD determines the degree of importance the university has placed upon   one of the government’s mandates.

The implementation of the 6th   NBC 461 Evaluation Cycle   has allowed the faculty to enjoy benefits inherent in the new appointment issued by the Human Resource Management Office. A total of 125   appointments as of January 2016 for   Assistant Professor IV up    to Professor VI positions increases  the leverage of the institution against the society as it demands   for  more experts in various fields. Furthermore, an average of five international travel grants   to the university’s think tank for knowledge dissemination is an important angle through which the administration’s support to its   faculty   is appreciated.

As for the graduates, climbing the higher echelon of the Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Licensure Examinations has proved to be one of CTU’s designated   achievements toward the development of a highly skilled manpower for the nation’s economic growth. An average of 3 topnotchers   per year has stabilized the coalition of educators to materialize the needed strategies in managing efficient transfer of learning.

As one of the top ten SUCs in the country, it also boasts of its 30 programs accredited by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc.

Multilateral engagements with different government and nongovernmental agencies have come across the limelight such that various forms of excellence in different fields of expertise are streamlined in the dynamic curricula transcendent of economic, social, and political well-being of the benefactors. Recently, Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, the university president, received the award as the institution   landed  1st and 3rd spots in the regional and national levels respectively  in the search for Best PESO culminated during the 15th National PESO Congress in Manila. The accomplishment is the testament of CTU’s   decisive control over its enrollment-employment   mechanism for students who are key players in the future generation.

The  massive impact  of the institution to the economy of not just Cebu Province but the nation in general   creates  a niche for CTU   in the global village through ASEAN-responsive  agenda of the new age. (Dr. Rhodora G. Magan, UPO-EIC)
