The turnover ceremony of Job Search Kiosk (JSK) in August of last year at Cebu Technological University-Main Campus proved DOLE’s support to the university’s mandate of promoting labor market information system  to its students and community.

Being the only academic institution in Region 7 with the employment portal, CTU has increased employment rate since its installation.

DOLE RO7 Regional Director Exequiel A. Sarcauga has provided a great avenue for CTU President Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. to launch students’ skills and abilities to the world.

In his speech, Dr. Ancheta acknowledged DOLE for the unyielding support to the university’s various job search assistance programs and other student welfare programs. He also recognized the efforts of   CTU-PESO Manager Nona Fe Y. Estolas.

Ms. Estolas’ request  was immediately acted upon by the agency as she envisions it to be the graduates’ gateway to the world at their finger tips. CTU-MAIN Campus Director Januario L. Flores noted during the ceremony that  the kiosk will not only benefit the  students and graduates but also other job hopefuls who will visit the university.

Dir. Sarcauga, on the other hand, emphasized on the maximum utilization of the kiosk. Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) signed on August 24 stipulates that “the JSK desires to expand its reach and enable registered jobseekers to access more reliable employment  opportunities pursuant to Republic Act No. 8759 otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999.”

The Job Search Kiosk is an information portal designed by the Department of Labor and Employment to provide information on employment and livelihood opportunities to the public for free. This kiosk also offers information on services of DOLE’s attached agencies: Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Other attendees to the ceremony were the employment officers of the university’s  campuses. (Donnavelle T. Mantos,PESO Staff/Admin Aide IV)
