CTU-Main Campus clinched 3-day hosting of 2016 Regional Festival for Culture and Arts from November 16 through 18.
The annual event culminated with Cebu Normal University (CNU) as the overall champion followed by Cebu Technological University (CTU), Bohol Island State University (BISU) and Siquijor State College (SSC).
The festival showcased various talents in six (6) major categories: literary arts, visual arts, music, dance, performing arts, and special category.
Literary arts comprised extemporaneous speaking, dagliang talumpati, storytelling, pagkukuwento, essay writing, pagsulat ng sanaysay, and quiz bowl. CNU won in all sub-categories except in essay writing taken by SSC and pagsulat ng sanaysay by CTU.
CTU won all competitions under visual arts: on-the spot painting and pencil rendering or drawing. Gift of music prevailed among Normalites as they won four of six subcategories: instrumental solo (violin), live band competition, vocal solo (Kundiman), and chorale contest. Vocal duet and pop solo went to CTU and SSC.

Short and sweet play and radio drama top spots all went to CNU.
As for dances, SSC took indigenous dance while CNU championed folk and contemporary dances. BISU earned first place in hip-hop dance.
CNU and BISU will represent Region VII at the nationals for special category as they won Mr. and Ms. PASUC respectively.
The Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) continue to cultivate the value of culture as this year’s event has once again exhibited talents from the nation’s stakeholders. (UPO)
