CTU confirms championship DNA

It was a record-breaking event—54 teams (instead of the usual 40) across the country competed, but Cebu Technological University Main (champion) and CTU Danao (2nd runner-up) conquered the 7th PSME National Mechanical Students Conference last week.

University of Batangas in between made CTU some ripples throughout the country for having coveted the top spots.

A massive comback indeed for CTU Main was what happened at the nationals after being left 4th placer at regionals by CTU Danao  as the champion.

CTU Main member Junarro Estrella revealed that only region 7 is used to  having a selection; hence, going to the nationals, delegates feel more confident against them from other regions.

For months they trained to endure three rounds of elimination plus the grueling final round vied by top 10 teams.

Renowned Manila schools unfortunately never made it to the finals. Estrella quipped: “It was not really hard. We have awesome teammates.” Other members who contributed much during the eliminations were Edielbert Libre and Joshua Gonzales.

October 18 was meant for the team to occupy center stage. At the final round, Estrella, Mark Vincent Mamigo and Rodel Resit, the team captain, answered the make-or-break 9th question on pumps which was  answerable in one minute.

The team recalled how they critically won by one question which was responded to by Resit.

Resit’s team sincerely appreciated the support of the university given that PSME Cebu Chapter only sponsored the regional winner.

Grabbing the championship trophy for the first time, CTU Main’s Mechanical Engineering Department is definitely given enough reason to check out the next tilt. RM
