Calape secures delegates; 2018 SCUAA regionals pushes

From the Cultural Center, delegates pass by Calape church to the opening ceremony venue.

The sky was overcast, but it never impeded the grand celebration of athleticism among Visayan state universities. A perfect climate was made for contingents as they filled the street of Calape leading to the oval.

Catching up the opening ceremony of the 2018 SCUAA Regional Games was Cebu Technological University President Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. who, despite being caught with a bunch of activities, made sure that attending the event would not be missed.

Shade of blue dominated among the participants as their uniforms were made for such a manifestation of power to defend the title in more than ten categories.

CTU, being the biggest delegation, shouted a distinct yell before dignitaries alongside lively chants from Bohol Island State University, Siquijor State College, Cebu Normal University, and Negros Oriental State University.

University campus directors in Barili, San Francisco, Daanbantayan, Danao, Moalboal, and Cebu City were one in promoting sportsmanship espoused by SUCs..

Meanwhile, Calape officials in their speeches aired out ideas on hosting despite the ‘not-so-equipped’ environment.

However, they promised to secure the place to the best of their ability. Military officers were spread in the vicinity during the parade until the culmination.

Giving it a twist at the end of the ceremony with its 5-minute bedazzling fireworks display was more than enough to show the warmth and hospitality of the tarsier-nurturing island of the country. RM
