College of Agriculture to impact sugar industry

CTU Tuburan Campus Director Pedrito Pontillas (6th from left) pushes the College of Agriculture Dean Kent Marcial Catubis (7th from left) to create alliances with establishments/institutions here and abroad.

CTU Tuburan—-College of Agriculture Dean Kent Marcial Catubis and Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) Bogo-Medellin District target the development of sugarcane industry.

The  partnership opens many doors to both the  faculty and students since the SRA administration committed to providing scholarships, thesis grants and free seminars/trainings/workshops  per Sugarcane Industry Development Act of 2015.

A three-day training on OPSI Sugarcane Farm Management Training in February was already conducted to students specializing in Agronomy and Horticulture.

In the same event, SRA focal person announced the granting of  financial support in putting up the Soils Laboratory. Mr. Catubis advocated that having their own facility will bring huge improvement not only in instruction but also in research, production, and extension. Students will have a better avenue for advanced soil reading (for crop production).

Catubis also mentioned helping the farmers learn proper fertilization management, which leads to conducting soil-related researches.

SRA appreciates the  partnership since it expands its undertakings..The company is looking forward to sustaining the link with CTU Tuburan to boost the sugar industry in the province and in the entire country. ICPA-Tuburan
