The Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Agricultural Research for Implementation appropriates 5 million to “Technology Commercialization of Blended Seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) and Selected Tropical Fruits (Mangifera indica Linn and Theobroma Cacao)” by Dr. Rosalyn Alburo of CTU Argao and team members from CTU Barili and CTU Tuburan.
Dr. Alburo’s team, in collaboration with Tamiao Seaweed Farmers Association, formulates two wellness blends—tableya-seaweed and mango-seaweed—as the project’s outputs.
The study anticipates livelihood development in the coastal communities, which in turn will boost the seaweed production especially in Central Visayas while providing healthy beverages to consumers. UICPA
