CTU secures spot in US-funded bioinformatics workshop

One Health Bioinformatics and Grant Writing Workshop in April of 2019  selected CTU Vice President for Research and Development Adrian P. Ybañez  alongside country’s leading researchers from  UP Los Baños College of Veterinary Medicine, UP Manila National Institutes of Health,  Mindanao State University (Iligan and Marawi), Ateneo de Manila University, Cavite State University,  Research Institute of Tropical Medicine and DA Bureau of Animal Industry. 

The workshop was funded by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency, having Dr. Jason Farlow of Farlow Scientific Consulting Company as the expert lecturer.  

Participants learned the promotion of capabilities needed for genomic-based infectious disease research as well as areas of interest to both  Community-Based Employment Program (CBEP) and the national health systems of the Philippines. 

Center for One-Health of CTU  is given premium as the university strides  for the integration of veterinary and human health systems, which include disease risk reduction , bio surveillance, pathogen diagnostics, strain sourcing and outbreak tracking, and identification and tracking of antimicrobial resistance.

Research proposals from participating universities are expected as outputs of said workshop. Office of the Vice President for Research and Development
