The Nation Builder (NB), official student publication of CTU Main, carved its name for winning big at the national press conference in January of 2017 in Baguio City.
Photojournalists Elnar Pagao, Wellah Marie Sandoval and Arne Josephus Morales clinched team category championship title; Robinson Igot Jr. won 1st in feature writing; Angelo Amar won 2nd in editorial cartooning; and Daryl Joy Merencillo ranked 5th in page designing and layouting.
More awards went to photojournalism team category 6th placers Nikki Nacario, Charymar Estrada, Robinson Igot, Llahona Fajardo, Paul Vincent Abas, and Charl Marie Inot; and photojournalism individual category 10th placer Benedicto Casquite.
Renowned speakers gave the event a more competitive climate as they shared valuable insights toward improving participants’ craft and craftsmanship. They were Rowena Paraan of ABS-CBN’s “Bayan Mo, Ipatrol Mo,” Don Dave Ventura of GMA Network Inc., Glenn Agustin of DepEd Region 3, Prof. Ben Domingo of CHED, Jimmy Domingo of UP Diliman, Dr. Regidor Gaboy of Central Luzon State University, and Prof. Liana Barro of Far Eastern University.
NB adviser Criselda Esmero and staffers had enough reason to stay festive for overcoming 37 other representatives at the annual competition sponsored by the Organization of Students Services Educators, Inc. (OSSEI).
Rounding up the event was Rensel Mae Borbado of The Aquarians, the official student publication of CTU Carmen, who championed the editorial writing and 4th placer in feature writing. Llahona Fajardo
