As one of the Niche Centers in the Regions (NICER) for Research and Development, the Cebu Technological University-Biodiversity, Environment and Natural Resources Research Center (CTU-BENRRC) have attained some of its objectives since its establishment in 2018.
“The center focuses on training our people, publishing our outputs, patenting our products, and expanding our partnerships and linkages. Through this, we get to receive funds,” said BENRRC head Prof. Rosalyn Alburo, who started the operation in April of 2018 in CTU Argao.
Product development as feeds and fertilizers out of discarded breadfruit has been optimized through research. Cinnamon, tisa, and other endemic commodities have also been considered.
Moreover, the Center features research facilities as: Biology Laboratory, Genotoxicity and Cytotoxicity Laboratory, Instrumentation Room, and Food Innovation Center. Hanilyn Garcia / Dianne Matinao
