CTU Carmen maintains spot among accredited maritime schools

Cebu Technological University Carmen is up and going head-to-head with accredited maritime schools in the country this year as posted on www.merchantlife.com.

As the lone state university offering maritime degree program in Cebu province, it produces 2004 maritime graduates in the last five years. In 2018, 847 or 95.91 percent of the graduates passed the board examination, making it to the local and international shipping companies. 

Recently, it secured ties with Taiwan’s National Kaohsiung Maritime University apart from linkages with Elburg Ship Management Phils., Inc. and Magsaysay Institute of Shipping that have been going strong for years.

In 2015, full compliance with requirements by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) was made, following Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9002-1994 certification by the American Bureau of Shipping Quality Evaluation Inc. in 2001. It has been governed by the Standard Training, Certification Watchkeeping (STCW) since 1995.

MarE Dept. is manned by 14 full-time and six part-time academics with IMO 6.09 Training Course, IMO Model Course 3.12 Training Course, IMO Model 6.10 training for Simulator Teachers and Assessors and other relevant trainings and workshops.
