Development Communication students of CTU Main were second runner-up in Campus Patrol, a TV newscasting competition put up by ABS-CBN Central Visayas on August 29, 2019 at ABS-CBN Cebu station.
“It was very tough,” said Diogracias Olayon, a second-year DevCom student who acted as the team’s news anchor.
Other members who served as field reporters were Norife Alsola, Imaculate Grace Negre, Edmar Jacob Austria, Charmine Salvador and Novy Anne Mahinay.
“We have to learn how to deal with time pressure. We were only given seven minutes to finish the presentation. Writing news was also challenging and that’s something that we have to improve on,” Olayon added, whose team reported about the massive landslide that struck Naga City last year.
Providing the technical support were Jay Miko Bragas, Eldrin Roy Castañeda, Jaybee Van Sanchez and Alwayne Arabis.
The team thanked Media Laws and Ethics Professor Chester Abadilla for reinforcing their knowledge in media broadcasting.
Other competing schools were University of San Carlos, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu Normal University and St. Theresa’s College./CTU MAIN-UPO
