Tabuelan Mayor Raul Gerona provided 26 internet connectivity kits to part-time faculty members of CTU Tabuelan in October.
Campus director Ma. Carla Abaquita noted how quick the response was in that the delivery was done a month after the local government unit learned that part-time instructors did not have the gadget.
“Teaching in the new normal has been very challenging for us educators. Internet connection is one vital instrument in delivering instruction to the students in our distance learning arrangement. Our students are our first priority when it comes to internet access, but with the limited allocation, the non-organic teachers were left to spend from their own pockets.” Dr. Abaquita said, appealing to the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members of the municipality.
Abaquita referenced the university’s primary obligation to the organic faculty, where budget for connectivity kits was mostly spent, not to mention each student being given the privilege to own one, hence the non-inclusion of part-time instructors not just in CTU Tabuelan.
The campus, now on its third year, has currently about 300 students in two degree program offerings ./Zandra B. Mendoza
