Tourism student Andrea Cambal made strides in infographics after making it to the top five finalists of Crisis Management Plan Competition (CMPC) at the 2020 Tourism Conference on November 7 through 14, 2020.
Inspired by her undergraduate thesis capitalizing on local destinations, Cambal of CTU Danao made her contributions known among 300 participants nationwide, highlighting the Filipino tourism spirit amid the pandemic.
“We generated our topic which focused on marketing underrated destinations of our country thus the…team name, Padayon Lokal. We used our language because we were promoting our own #PilipinasNaman #PilipinasMuna,” said Cambal, in an online interview with ICPA Danao, who was teamed up with students from Lyceum of the Philippines Main, Paranaque City College, Southville International School, and the University of Mindanao.
With the theme, “Advancing Tourism Growth in the Time of Pandemic,” the team was able to feature underrated attractions and their potentials to mitigate the impact of the crisis brought by COVID-19.
“We made an infographic with an aim to shift the spotlight from the international arena to local destinations, also known as glocalization,” she added, being the assistant team leader of the group.
CMPC aimed at engaging students to propose viable solutions for the inclusive and speedy recovery of the country’s tourism industry crippled by the recent phenomenon.
Organized by the University of the Philippines Asian Institute of Tourism (UP AIT) Association of Alumni, it was co-presented by Intramuros Administration, TIEZA, Tourism Promotions Board, Catanduanes and Nueva Vizcaya. Sarah Jane Colina/ICPA Danao
