Tuburan fablab bags 2nd prize at DTI-backed fabfest

CTU Tuburan Fablab took 2nd prize of the Fabsiklaban Video Contest on January 8, 2021, as part of the annual FabFest 4 by the Department of Trade and Industry Region 7 (DTI R7) and Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen).

Under the COVID-19 Response Innovations category, Tuburan Fablab bested  13 others from across the country, hence making it to the  Top 5  People’s Choice Award generated through text votes.

DTI and AMCen gifted winners with cash and grants for additional FabLab equipment.

The contest aimed at showcasing and recognizing the fablabs’ various activities as production of personal protective equipment and other innovations at the onset of  community quarantine in 2020.

FabLab Director Siegfried Mendoza dedicated the award to the “relentless team of fabbers and extensionists” who risked coming to the facility everyday from March up to mid-June last year.
