Book pantry for kids in Sogod

Kids in Sogod receive free educational materials and other grocery items.

What started as a pantry providing groceries and food items to the community has since been expanded by Cebu Technological University Danao to help address necessities from food services to learning tools.

Textbooks, storybooks, clothing, food, and groceries were up for grabs for the 60 residents of Sogod, Cebu, in May.

Campus librarian Sarah Jean Jamero took the lead in providing essential resources to families and promoting literacy to children while face-to-face classes are yet to be decided.

A Sogod-native, Jamero was able to conduct the first-ever book pantry amidst the pandemic, emphasizing the need for brain stimulation among children.

The event was in line with the 27th Commission on Higher Education founding anniversary and 1st National Higher Education Day celebrations./ICPA Danao
