“Just keep the fire burning and keep that passion. Set your goals. Don’t settle for less; don’t just aim to pass the board exam; aim to be on top,” according to the November 2021 Civil Engineer Licensure Examination (CELE) 6th placer Frances Noel Carvajal.
Carvajal made a national scene this week with a 91.50% rating, enough to sustain CTU Danao’s licensure exam calibre in civil engineering as it had a 4th placer in 2020.
The results was predictable to some who knew the CTU Danao graduate as a habitué of the championship stage at national and regional quiz shows during his college years.
In an interview, he was referencing his experiences in different competitions which prepared him for the “biggest quiz in his life.”
“Dakog tabang in preparation for board exam kay na practice na sa time pressure [(Those competitions) put me under pressure and prepared me a great deal for the board exam].”
From Carmen, Cebu, he moved to Danao City and quit his work after graduation to focus on his review with his classmates, who are also full-fledged civil engineers.
His uphill journey, he added, was not without his supportive parents, professors and campus director. /Sarah Jane Colina/ICPA Danao
