The community engagement initiative dubbed “Amping Cebuano” earned Cebu Technological University its first Gawad Edukampyon award for Public Service and Community Engagement on October 25, 2021, via Facebook live.
Out of 124 entries from 55 public and private higher education institutions (HEIs) across the nation, Amping Cebuano was among the 23 shortlisted entries reaching the final phase.
11 judges from various institutions evaluated each project in terms of presentation (logical sequence, clarity and creativity), content (innovativeness, resilience, adaptability), and impact of the actual intervention.
‘Bayanihan’ spirit or the collective effort of the community amidst the pandemic is the cornerstone of the initiative to guide them in serving various frontliners in the region, according to CTU Extension Services Director Jorelyn Concepcion. Specifically, financial resources were gathered to produce protective gears, face masks and more .
The Amping Cebuano team included CTU faculty and its Fablab personnel, TAHI sa SASTRE, local government units, and volunteers from the displaced members of the community./Jessa Mahinay/ CTU Main
