Moalboal, Cebu — In observance of the 18-Day Campaign to raise awareness to End Violence Against Women, Cebu Technological University – Moalboal Campus conducted a program on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at CTU- Moalboal gym with a theme: “Filipino Marespeto: Safe Spaces, Kasali Tayo.”
One of the highlights of the said event was a motorcade participated by the different government agencies of Moalboal together with the CTU – Moalboal faculty, staff and student organizations who also wore an orange shirt that symbolizes the annual campaign to end violence against women. Some vehicles were also decorated with orange balloons to highlight the importance of the said event.
As stated by Dr. Alexis P. Ramirez, Director of Gender and Development, during his talk, “Violence Against Women violates human rights and continues to become one of the country’s perennial social problems. It manifests and perpetuates discrimination and gender inequality. It violates the fundamental rights of a woman to live a life free from violence.”
“The [VAW’s] theme elevates the campaign positively the advocacy as it is enjoyed by everyone to pursue the common vision of the community, free from violence against women and girls, and highlights what can be done to achieve such in order to have this free violence against women,” Ramirez added.
To end the event, a ceremonial lighting activity was also held outside the campus headed by the campus director, Dr. Zandro O. Perez, with the participation of CTU and other partnered agencies.
