Dr. Sylvester Tan Cortes of Cebu Technological University has made history at the 1st International Research Conference on Science Technology Education and Management (IRCSTEM) 2021 for his paper entitled, “A Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Teacher’s Competence in Action Research (TCAR) Scale held last September 29-30, 2021 via Zoom.
Negros State College of Science and Technology, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, hosted the research conference: “Gearing Science, Technology, Education and Management (STEM) in the New Normal.
The presentations involved in the conference were Education and Social Sciences; Teaching and Learning Process; Healthcare Practices and Education; Business Education and Entrepreneurship; Information Technologies and Learning Management System; Agriculture and Fisheries Education; and Technology Development. Cortes’s research belonged to the first track, namely the Culture and Education Integration.
In an interview, he shared that the conference was challenging for him. It was his first time joining a competition, and he had encountered difficulties concerning extracting funds and time for the paper. Nevertheless, he managed to bag the award out of 44 submitted papers from various local and international colleges and universities.
He expressed that “finding your niche” was the key to establishing a person’s success. –Jessa Mahinay BSDevCom VI-A
