Student Leaders gathered for First-ever Sustainable Development Goals’ Leadership Training

The CTU Federation of Student Government Inc. conducted a first-ever Student Leadership Training-Workshop, held at the Summit Galleria Hotel in Cebu City on May 30-June 1, 2022 where around 70 student leaders participated.

The three-day conference focuses on student leadership and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in resilient institutions and nation-building in their capacity as student leaders.

The university’s key officials who attended were Dr. Adrian Ybañez, Vice-President for Research and Development and FSG Adviser; Chief Administrative Officer Atty. Marvey Ocampo who emphasized legal writing, leadership skills, sustainable development, and beyond through PEP talk; Dr. Marlou C. Godinez, University Director for Gender and Development; former Student Regent Engr. Marlon Mata; and Dean for Students Affairs and Services, Mr. Irvin A. Narsico.

Dr. Ybañez, in his message to the student leaders “You are tasked to think of projects, but you are also challenged on making [them]; sustainable for the years to come.”

“You have to keep the passion within you to pursue your research and make it purposive to the community,” He added during the output presentations of the different teams.

The FSG adviser also offered some advice to student leaders in order for them to complete their projects. He recommended organizing their projects pragmatically, solving problems using numbers rather than perceptions, and matching their efforts with their department. He also urged that the various campuses investigate potential coordination and collaboration to broaden their areas.

The delegates who attended were from the Federation of Student Governments (FSG), Supreme Student Government (SSG), Future Science and Technology Leaders of the Philippines (FSTLP), Student Journalists, and academics from several CTU campuses.
