CTU Campuses Converge in Tuburan to Join World Bamboo Day 2022

Cebu Technological University President Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr. led the University’s delegation of over 90 faculty and students from the different campuses in planting bamboo to celebrate World Bamboo Day 2022 on September 17, 2022, at Barangay Kabangkalan, Tuburan, Cebu.

CTU Tuburan hosted the event, which was participated by multi-sectoral organizations such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI),  Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Education (DepEd), LandBank of the Philippines, Katipunan Bank, Lamac Cooperative and some non-government organizations.

Dr. Edgar Tibay,  Vice President for Production Extension and Resource Generation, was also present in the activity along with faculty, staff, and students from Daan Bantayan, Carmen, Danao City, Main, Barili, Dumanjug, Mountain Campus, and Tuburan campuses.

The world celebrates this event annually to raise awareness of the benefits of the versatile and valuable plant, including its positive impact on mitigating climate change’s adverse effects—the activity aimed at planting 11,000 shoots of bamboo seedlings throughout the selected 47 barangays of Tuburan.
