College of Engineering coordinates the Alliance of Talisay Cooperatives for sustainable livelihood.

The College of Engineering, coordinated with the Alliance of Talisay Cooperatives and various faculty members in Cebu Technological University–Main Campus as well as guided by the approval of the overall Campus administration, held two major programs in August the year 2022, both of which had stakeholders and local government representatives situated in Barangay Biasong, Talisay City. 

These programs were “Programa Alang sa Dugang Kabalo ug Kahanas sa Pagpadagan sa Kooperatiba (PROKKK)” and “Sustainable Dressmaking for the Communityrespectively.    

“Programa Alang sa Dugang Kabalo ug Kahanas sa Pagpadagan sa Kooperatiba (PROKKK)” Phase 2 was held on August 22-23, 2022, in Talisay City partnered by the Alliance of Talisay Cooperatives with a total number of 6 cooperatives as participants which housed 12 – 15 members. The program aimed “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, and “Partnerships for the Goals” as its SDGs to have 50% of the beneficiaries implement the introduced KPI (Key Performance Indicator) Monitoring Performance System and the E-Commerce Platform. 

The first day began with a Welcome Address by Engr. Capin, followed by presenting the Statement of Purpose by Engr. Maria Elena Aparente, which then was followed by the discussion of the Key Performance Indicator headed by Engr. Raul Guinitaran, second topic E-commerce by Engr. Dyanne Brendalyn Mirasol Cavero and then concluded with the discussion of Business Process by Engr. Ike Baguio. Overall, the initiative accomplished its objectives through the compliance of its activities and garnered a satisfactory result determined by the evaluation report and summary of comments and suggestions.

On the other hand, Sustainable Dressmaking for the Community Phase 1 was held on August 24-26, 2022, in Talisay City, partnered with the local government of Barangay Biasong in Talisay City. The program aimed “No Poverty”, “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, and “Partnerships for the Goals” as its SDGs to have 90% of the participants acquiring an increased skill and competency towards the profession of Dressmaking. 

Another objective of the program was that 90% of the participants would be able to earn an income through the acquisition of dressmaking skills. The program highlighted the primary activities and processes around the Dressmaking industry. 

Such activities included

  • Body Measurement and Pattern Making done on the first day of the program,
  • Cutting and Sewing activities on the second day, and
  • Costing activities that culminated by the end of the program. 

Moreover, the initiative accomplished its objectives by compliance with its activities. It garnered a satisfactory result determined by the evaluation report and summary of comments mixed with suggestions that might be helpful in the following program.
