To identify environmental issues in its infrastructure project, Cebu Technological University (CTU) assembled students and officials of concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) at the Centennial Building on January 25, 2023, for public consultation.
Spearheaded by Campus Pollution Control Officer Engr. Maria Elena A. Aparente and CTU’s consultants, the discussion facilitated the acquisition of an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the office of Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist For. John Ervin Quizada oriented the attendees with the essential details of the project, while For. Andrea Pearl D. Lagdameo highlighted the significance of environmental impact assessment (EIA) to direct and indirect areas.
Attendees also evaluated and raised their concerns about the project and its impacts on their respective communities.
ECC is among the essential documents to realize the CTU Infrastructure Project, a proposed project to enhance staff and personnel accommodation and deliver quality service to students through infrastructure development and also to accomplish all the needed environmental certification from the EMB office of DENR.
