The esteemed Cebu Technological University Daanbantayan Campus proudly took on the responsibility of hosting the highly anticipated ANGARA Unity Cup 2023 under the theme “United We Play, United We Succeed.” This grand event spanned from May 15th to 17th, 2023, bringing together participants from various campuses to demonstrate their skills and camaraderie in many sports, all in honor of Senator Sonny Angara.
On the inaugural day, May 15th, 2023, delegates representing North Cell, South Cell, and Central Cell arrived at the picturesque Cebu Technological University Daanbantayan Campus. These three Cells joined forces to compete and showcase their athletic prowess, fostering a sense of unity and solidarity.
The festivities commenced with a vibrant parade at 5 P.M., captivating the audience gathered at the CTU grounds. Following the parade, the opening ceremony unfolded in the campus gymnasium, witnessed by a captivated audience of approximately 600 attendees. Notable figures present at this momentous occasion included Mr. Jasper Nuñez and Mr. Rhom Frias, esteemed representatives from Senator Angara’s office, as well as distinguished guests like Executive Vice President Dr. Rosein Ancheta Jr., Dr. Edgar Tibay (Vice President for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation), Dr. Rose Mary Almacen (Vice President of Student Affairs), and esteemed Campus Directors from various CTU campuses. These directors included Dr. Romeo Lepiten (CTU Barili), Dr. Gregorio Pajaron (CTU Dumajug), Dr. Patrobinson Salumag (CTU CCMSC), Dr. Jonita Letiratus (CTU San Francisco), Dr. Ruben Ungui (CTU Daanbantayan), Pro Gerlie Fariola (CTU Bantayan), and Dr. Rolina Paran (CTU Tabogon).
Throughout the opening ceremony, the distinguished speakers and guests emphasized the significance of embracing the true spirit of sportsmanship. They underscored the values of fair play, teamwork, and mutual respect at the heart of any successful sporting event.
