The College of Veterinary Medicine from Cebu Technological University Barili Campus successfully led the 20th National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS) on February 12 to 16, 2024, at the DepEd Ecotech Center in Lahug, Cebu City.
The NCVMS is an annual conference that brings together all the veterinary students from esteemed private and state universities across the Philippines for an educational gathering. In February 2023, the CTU-Barili campus won the bid to host the 20th congress. As CTU held the charge to host this significant event headed by Lesette Rall, the 20th directress of NCVMS and a Vet student from CTU Barili, this made CTU the first-ever university to host the congress in the Visayas region.
“It was a lot to do considering the time constraints. Without everyone’s help and cooperation, it wouldn’t be successful. I heard a lot of compliments for the program and how well planned everything was. It makes me feel happy.” Rall said.
The event showcased different learning activities where the delegates showed their competence and knowledge in Veterinary Medicine. They participated in panel discussions led by prominent personalities in veterinary medicine, quiz bowls, and case study presentations. The event also lined up exciting activities where the delegates had the opportunity to visit the Cebu Safari and Adventure Park and the Cebu Ocean Park. Overall, the congress offered a blend of education, fun, and camaraderie, leaving participants inspired and empowered for the future.
“It was truly remarkable. The feeling of meeting Veterinary inclined individuals from across the country is just incredible.” Lourfamay G. Dologan, one of the participants stated.
Together with the working committee, the congress was also overseen and supported by the Philippine Association of Veterinary Students (PhilAVets) adviser, Dr. Adrian P. Ybañez, a faculty member from CTU. / Jj Pahayahay
