Cebu Technological Universityโ€™s College of Computer, Information, and Communications Technology (CCICT) held a significant meeting on August 07, 2024, with Mr. SHIBASAKI Eiji, the Volunteer Coordinator, and Ms. Lyr Faith L. Paruhinog, the Program Officer from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Present in the meeting were Dr. Ramel C. Genobiagon, the Campus Director of CTU Main Campus, Dr. Jose Maria S. Garcia II, Dean of the CCICT, Dr. Gerry Ritz R. Densing, CCICT Associate Dean, Prof. Pet Andrew Nacua, MIT, Program Chair for Information Technology Department, Mr. Angelbert P. Maghanoy, MIT, Program Chair of Information System Department, Dr. Marie Joy B. Alit, Program Chair, Computer Technology Department, Dr. Bell S. Campanilla, Chairman for Internalization and ASEAN Integration, and Dr. Cristie Ann Jaca, the University Director for Information, Communication, and Public Affairs.

JICA is the primary government agency that provides Official Development Assistance (ODA) to support socio-economic development worldwide. The primary focus of the meeting was on CTU’s ICT extension project, known as the Capstone Project. This project aims to address the needs of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by solving social problems and providing support to industries in need. The project includes Agriculture, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, Animal Conservation, and the rest of the SDGs.

The discussion underscored the potential for Japanese volunteers to contribute significantly to the Capstone Project, enhancing CTU’s efforts to solve critical issues through innovative ICT solutions. The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism for a fruitful partnership and a shared commitment to advancing educational and technical initiatives.
