Marking the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, the Cebu Technological University Barili campus faculty and staff came together on September 12-14 at the Solea Mactan Resort, Cordova, Cebu, to engage in a series of impactful seminars aimed at enhancing professional standards.
The three-day activity promotes a healthy, respectful, and ethical work environment in the public sector. It featured seminars on RA 7877 known as the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, and the Safe Spaces Act of 2019, or RA 11313. Atty. Joelie Marie Y. Medalle emphasized the importance of a respectful workplace. In her lecture, she highlighted the degrees of offenses and penalties, implementing bodies, and duties of the employees relating to these laws. Attendees also delved into Republic Act 6713, exploring the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. Atty. Irene Ann Caballes reinforced accountability and integrity among the attendees, emphasizing the essence of public office. The final seminar, delivered by Ms. Kyren Mearr C. Cabellon, focused on work ethics and teamwork, equipping participants with essential tools to foster collaboration in the workplace. Participants actively participated in group activities aimed at promoting organizational trust.
Understanding these laws is vital to the institutionโs faculty and staff. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted for each topic discussion to assess the participants learning. Participants asked questions and addressed clarifications during the open forum after each session.
The 124th anniversary bears the theme: Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-ready Servant Heroes. This celebration honored civil service and underscored the ultimate goal of excellence in public service.
