The Cebu Technological University (CTU) Barili officially commenced the construction of its new dormitory through a groundbreaking ceremony held on October 11, 2024. The event occurred at the designated site near the second gate of the campus in Cagay, Barili, Cebu. The event was attended by university officials, faculty, staff, and representatives from the project’s contractor, the Corro Construction Development and Trade Corporation.

CTU Barili Campus Director Dr. Romeo C. Lepiten delivered welcoming remarks and expressed enthusiasm for the new facility. Special guests, including CTU President Mr. Joseph C. Pepito and Barili Mayor John-John Garcia, attended the event. Mayor Garcia assured the campus community of his unwavering support during his speech.

The dormitory, worth 96 million pesos, aims to ease the burden on students who travel long distances to attend classes. Jeyveb Casas, a student from the Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE), shared her excitement: “As someone who has traveled from the north of Danao City to study here (Barili), I believe this will make a significant difference in our daily lives. It will give us a sense of belonging and ease some of our challenges living far from home.”

The new dormitory, focusing on providing students with a safe, convenient, and comfortable living space, is a testament to CTU Barili’s commitment to enhancing student life and academic success. It is expected to be a significant addition to the campus, further solidifying the university’s dedication to its students.
