The Records Management and Archives Office led a two-day seminar and workshop on Basic Records and Archives Management (BRAM) to provide the newly hired Records Officers and personnel of Cebu Technological University (CTU) with the knowledge, skills, and pertinent approach to the systematic and economical records management scheme, held on October 29-30, 2024, at the Conference Hall, 6th Centennial Building, CTU-Main Campus.

CTU-Main Campus Director Dr. Ramel C. Genobiagon cordially welcomed the participants and other guests. Ms. Evangeline S. Tarongoy, University Records Officer, presented the overview and training rules. The resource speakers for this gathering were Mr. Kit P. Toling, Supervising Records Management Analyst, and Mr. Jhonley Joseph P. Item who is from the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) โ€“ Visayas, the institution mandated for records management.

Yesterday’s seminar-workshop covered a range of topics, including the Republic Act 9470; introduction to records management; Records and Archives Management Program (RAMP); records creation and control; records maintenance, use, and control: mail and files management; and open forum discussion. The last day of the seminar-workshop included an extensive discussion on the records disposition administration; question and answer portion; presentation of the 2023 new records disposition schedule; and security of records; among others.

This endeavor is conducted to address the specific needs and challenges faced by our personnel in handling and maintaining records and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of records management practices in the university.
