The three-day extension project titled “Papaya and Moringa Cookie-Making for Community Health” of Cebu Technological University-Daanbantayan campus, successfully wrapped up in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay, Daanbantayan, which was held from November 15-17, 2024. This project aimed to improve community health and support sustainable livelihoods by teaching members of the KALIPI Womenโ€™s Group how to create nutritious, marketable cookies using locally available ingredientsโ€”papaya and moringa (malunggay).

Honorable Barangay Captain Leilanie Lahoylahoy and the barangay council supported this initiative. The program gathered 40 KALIPI women participants, led by the KALIPI President Ma’am Nenita, two Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) on-the-job trainees, and the CTU extension team. Dr. Tracy L. Mantos, guided the team, namely Dr. Nikkithea L. Beduya, Dr. Honey Lou O. Layon, Dr. Iris L. Gulbe, Dr. Hannibal R. Layon, Prof. Salve T. Bucita, Prof. Analyn C. Frasco, Sir. Felixberto Lucabon, Jr., and Sir Norlito Amistoso. BSHM students Mr. Gulfan and Mr. Villarin showed the participants with their cookie-making expertise.
