To support Cebu Technological University’s drive for a drug-free community, and in celebration of Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week this November 2024, the Guidance Office-Evening program initiated a series of drug awareness symposiums for the evening student populace. The office partnered with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which served as the resource speakers.

On November 21-22, 264 fourth-year students and 626 third-year evening students attended the symposium, with the discussions headed by Intelligence Officer 1 Philip London Noynay. While on November 26, 839 second-year students attended the session led by RO7 Legal and Prosecution Unit Assistant Chief, Atty. Bernaliz Requilme. Lastly, on November 27, 1,819 first-year students were in attendance, with Intelligence Officer 1 Philip London Noynay leading the discussion.

Throughout the week, PDEA guest speakers covered critical topics on the risks of dangerous drugs and key provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. With this initiative, students gained essential knowledge on staying drug-free and understanding the laws that protected them and their community from the devastating effects of drug abuse.

The success of the event was made possible by the support of the Guidance Office staff, namely Dr. Nimfa L. Batiancila, Ms. Lucy Marie Raven Mahilum, Mr. Denricks Tecson, and Mr. Arnel Rapana.

This activity aligned with the vision of CTU to be a community-responsive institution, actively contributing to the well-being and development of its students and the broader community. As a result, the university made significant progress toward becoming a drug-free institution.
