Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Library headed the Author’s Visit, which highlighted a writing and publishing workshop and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CTU and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), which aimed to promote literacy and knowledge-sharing initiatives. This undertaking occurred today, November 27, 2024, at the Learning Resource Center, New Administration Building, CTU-Main.
Part of this endeavor were University President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito, represented by Atty. Rodmarc P. Sanchez, Executive Assistant IV; Mx. Arnaldo P. Asuque Jr., CTU faculty member and workshop speaker; Ms. Morena E. Carlos, University Head Librarian; and Ms. Armida M. Najarro, College Librarian. Other attendees were Reverend Pastor Florentino B. Somera, Jr., CTU Faculty, staff, and students. Representing BJMP were JO1 Khen E. Juanites, JSupt Roberto Crisanto L. Alpon III, and JO3 Noel Auman.
BJMP representatives handed a symbolic gift to the CTU delegates, reflecting their mutual affirmation of promoting education and literary advocacy.
A prominent National Book Development Board(NBDB) recognized author and CTU faculty member, Mx. Arnaldo P. Asuque Jr., gave an insightful workshop on writing and the intricacies of book publishing and introduced his book, “The Fireman Who Calls Me Sugar Daddy.”
Mx. Asuque generously donated signed copies of his book to the CTU library and BJMP personnel, cultivating a more profound connection with the participants. With his contributions, he received certificates of appreciation from CTU.
This initiative underlined the crucial role libraries play in nurturing intellectual growth and community engagement among academic institutions and government agencies.
