The Japanese Consulate and the Philippines Association of Japanese Scholars (PHILAJAMES) were warmly welcomed by the Cebu Technological University (CTU) for the General Assembly, Induction Ceremony and Collaboration Meeting held today, November 16, 2024, at the President’s Office, CTU-Main.
Dr. Joseph C. Pepito, University President, led the said undertaking, along with the Cebu Japanese Consulate Mr. Hideaki Matsuo, Consul General, and Mr. Toshio Yadomi, Consul. Mr. Matsuo delivered a short and uplifting message, especially with their commitment to strengthening their partnership with CTU. According to Dr. Cherry Ballescas, PHILAJAMES Director-Adviser, in 1997, PHILAJAMES-Cebu was formally linked to PHILAJAMES National and considered PHILAJAMES-Cebu Chapter.
The convention mainly highlighted the Induction of PHILAJAMES Cebu Officers, who took their oath of Office before Consul General Mr. Matsuo, and in the presence of CTU’s University President. They are Dr. Adrian P. Ybaรฑez, President; Dr. Anthony S. Ilano, Vice President; Dr. Juvy B. Malonjao, Secretary; Dr. Noel Roble, Assistant Secretary; Treasurers: Mr. Fides Bagayas and Mr. Dondon Montescarlos; Mr. Rodivick O. Docor, Auditor, and the Board of Directors: Mr. Jonathan C. Maglasang; Mr. Albert Banacia and Mr. Danilo Largo, from the University of San Carlos; Ms. Antoniette Mondigo; Mr. Jerry Zapata; and Mr. Robert Roxas.
Among the attendees were CTU’s key officials, namely Dr. Felix Pocong, University Director for Internationalization and ASEAN Integration, Dr. Regina Sitoy, UD for Student Internship Abroad Program, Prof. Mark Joseph C. Bernardo, UD for Student Scholarship; and Atty. Marvey C. Ocampo, Dean of Student Affairs, represented by Ms. Janet A. Saragena.
It is known that the Japanese Consulate and PHILAJAMES have consistently collaborated to promote Japanese Government Scholarships (graduate and undergraduate) and foster a greater appreciation of Japanese culture among the public.
