Cebu Technological University-Main Campus received the Most Outstanding Program Award for Out-of-School Youth Higher Education or Training at the “O2 Youth and Partners Summit – Beyond the Horizon: Sailing Towards Synergy and Sustainability,” held on November 13, 2024, at Quezon City. The same award is given to University of San Jose โ€“ Recoletos and University of Southern Philippines Foundation as these three HEIs acted as one unit for the implementation of the program.

The USAID Opportunity 2.0 Program awarded the Higher Education or Training Readiness Orientation (HERO) of CTU, USJ-R and USPF for its impact, strategy and sustainability. HERO bested 16 OSY programs applied by various HEIs in the country. HERO has greatly influenced the lives and futures of young individuals by supporting Alternative Learning System (ALS) students and teachers. HERO is a product of collaboration among CTU, USJ-R, USPF, SKILLS, BCPD, DepEd Cebu City, City of Cebu, and EDC-USAID Opportunity 2.0 Program.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sheilalaine G. Romulo, from CTU, obtained the Outstanding Youth Champion – Cebu Hub award. This is in recognition of her incredible commitment and advocacy for out-of-school youth in Cebu Hub, a project site of the USAID O2 Program that covers Cebu City, Tagbilaran City, Iloilo City, Isabela City, and Zamboanga City. Dr. Romulo is also the lead implementor of HERO in Cebu City.

CTU transforms lives by supporting the advancement of out-of-school youth in Cebu City, providing second-chance opportunities, and contributing to their holistic growth and development.
