In collaboration with the Cebu City Government, through the Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission and the Cultural and Historical Affairs Office, Cebu Technological University (CTU) facilitated the “Tulomanon sa Pagtamod sa Adlaw sa Dilang Sugboanon,” on February 21, at the Centennial Building, CTU-Main.
This event is in celebration of International Mother Language Day. It seeks to “promote the preservation and protection of all languages while emphasizing cultural diversity.”
Notable speakers shared their expertise and experiences at this gathering, namely, Dr. Shane Carreon who presented his paper titled “Authors of Afterlives: Translation, Intent, Agency.” Prof. Merlie Alunan shared her “Thumbnail Sketches on Translation,” while Dr. Erlinda Alburo presented “Ang Paghubad Sa Sinebwano.”
Attendees included CTU-Main Campus Director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr., Dean of Instruction Dr. Imelda J. Villarin, along with students from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS): Bachelor of Arts with majors in English Language and Literature, and under the Department of English and Literary Studies. They actively engaged in insightful open forum discussions with the speakers.
Key speakers were awarded certificates in recognition of their commendable efforts in sharing their knowledge and expertise. Additionally, the CTU-Main Choristers and Cebu City Marching Band showcased their solid talents through their stunning performances.
The program concluded with students gaining wisdom, valuable lessons, and inspiring words shared by the keynote speakers.
