On February 1, 2025, Cebu Technological University (CTU) and Subang – CTU Chapter successfully concluded another Black Bamboo (๐๐ฉ๐บ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ด๐ต๐ข๐ค๐ฉ๐บ๐ด ๐ฏ๐ช๐จ๐ณ๐ข) propagation session in collaboration with the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) trainees of CTU – Barili Campus. Over 100 black bamboo plants were propagated, reinforcing the organizationโs commitment to ecological restoration and climate resilience.
The initiative was led by Subang Executive President Peter John C. Enorio, alongside Subang – Province of Cebu Acting Provincial Director Krista Marie Frances C. Bicada, Subang – CTU Science and Technology Vice-President Shaina Faith D. Visorro, CTU – Barili CWTS Student Staff Dave M. Baran, and Subang – CTU Volunteer Intern Dhemae D. Libusana. Their leadership emphasized the importance of sustainable reforestation and community-driven environmental efforts.
Black bamboo, known for its rapid growth and high carbon sequestration capacity, plays a vital role in conservation. This session provided CWTS trainees with hands-on experience in sustainable forestry practices and climate adaptation strategies.
Cebu Technological University and Subang – CTU continue to drive environmental initiatives that promote biodiversity conservation and community empowerment. Students, volunteers, and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in upcoming programs dedicated to preserving natural ecosystems.
