From February 25 to 27, 2025, the College of Education (COED) at Cebu Technological University (CTU) Daanbantayan Campus conducted a highly beneficial Student Teaching Observation program for its preservice teachers. Held across various cooperating schools in northern Cebu, the event provided invaluable hands-on experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real classroom practice.
Led by Prof. Felixberto T. Lucabon Jr., Dean of Instruction, and Practice Teaching Chairman JD Braulio M. Diongson, the program aimed to deepen students’ understanding of pedagogical techniques, classroom management, and teaching strategies. Dr. Vivian M. Arreglo, Dean of COED, also actively participated, offering support and inspiration to the students.
Preservice teachers were assigned to different schools, where they observed real classroom settings and engaged with experienced educators. This exposure allowed them to gain practical insights into the teaching profession, developing a deeper understanding of both the challenges and rewards of education.
The cooperating head teachers at the respective schools were incredibly accommodating and worked closely with COED faculty to create a positive learning environment for the preservice teachers. Their collaboration ensured the program’s success, allowing students to benefit from a seamless partnership between the university and local schools.
CTU Daanbantayanโs faculty and part-time instructors also played an essential role in guiding and supervising the students throughout the observation process, ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience.
