Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus joins the nation in honoring this year’s National Women’s Month, signifying its dedication to upholding women’s rights and promoting a healthy and safe community for all.

The affair is in observance of RA 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women (MCW), a law that promotes the rights of Filipino women, seeking to “eliminate discrimination through the recognition, protection, fulfillment, and promotion of the rights of Filipino women, especially those belonging to the marginalized sectors of society.”

Held on March 21, 2025, the event, spearheaded by the CTU-Main’s Gender and Development (GAD) Office, convened all department heads, college deans, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and students, with the CTU-Main GAD chairperson Engr. Teresita B. Capin and GAD university director Dr. Mary Jane C. Sim at the helm.

In his speech, CTU-Main campus director Dr. Gregorio P. Pajaron Jr. stressed the essence of this celebration, highlighting the “transformative impacts of women’s participation and leadership across multiple sectors.”

The forum highlighted profound discussions from key speakers, including PMSg Jessa G. Pino from the Police Community Relation and Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad, and FO1 Claire V. Avergonzado, FO1 Shift In Charge from the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Other speakers included CPT. Fatima ICA J. Dantes, Deputy, G1 and GAD Officer of the 53rd Engineer Brigade from the Philippine Army, and LCDR Cherry Rose T. Manaay, PCG, Chief of Staff, Coast Guard District Central Visayas/OIC, GAD Central Visayas.

In this forum, participants, mainly students, gained an understanding of women’s rights and an overview of women’s experiences and the paths in which women are breaking walls in male-dominated sectors.

This year’s theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” promotes the rights and equal opportunities of women, fostering inclusivity and a violence-free community.

As part of the Women’s Month celebration, CTU employees and students also engaged in a high-energy Zumba exercise at the gym during the opening program.
