The Future Scientists and Technology Leaders of the Philippines (FSTLP) of Cebu Technological University – Main Campus, successfully hosted the SciTecholastic Fair 2025 from February 20 to 22, 2025. With the theme โAdvancing Climate Action, Health, and Equity through Emerging Technologies,โ the event provided a platform for student-scientists to engage in innovation-driven competitions and discussions.
The fair kicked off with two major contests: Hopscotch Frames, a video-making challenge, and Pitcher Says, an idea-pitching competition. Contestants aligned their presentations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to propose solutions to real-world issues.
In the afternoon, the Frontmanโs Call: Lecture Series featured two distinguished speakers. Ms. Allysa Manatad discussed the role of spatial analysis in research, while Hon. John Rowen Miano explored the art of prompt designing, a skill increasingly relevant in artificial intelligence and digital communication.
The second day introduced I-Spy, a picture analysis competition where participants extracted key insights from images, sharpening their observational and analytical skills.
Another Frontmanโs Call lecture followed, this time with Ms. Angelique Gacita, who introduced Notion, a digital productivity tool that helps students streamline their workflow and enhance organization.
The final day celebrated creativity with two competitions: Story Ladder, an essay-writing contest, and Pictionary, a poster-making challenge that combined artistic expression with scientific themes.
The event concluded with an Awarding Ceremony at the Gymnatorium Lobby, where outstanding participants were recognized for their innovative ideas and exceptional performances.
Adding a playful and engaging element, the fair embraced a Squid Game-inspired aesthetic, with themed visuals and competition formats designed to build suspense and excitement among participants. This creative approach not only energized the event but also made scientific exploration more interactive and memorable.
Honorable President John Rowen Miano remarked that the success of the event was due to the curious scientific minds of the premier university, reaffirming his goal of this event as a platform for creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.
With its dynamic mix of competitions, lectures, and pop culture elements, SciTecholastic Fair 2025 reaffirmed its mission to cultivate and empower the next generation of scientists and technology leaders.
