Cebu Technological University’s Records Management and Archives Office and the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) completed its two-day seminar-workshop on Records Disposition Administration (RDA) on February 28, 2025.
This initiative aimed to provide participants with understanding, insights, and hands-on experience toward a systematic and economical disposition of records in the university.
Resource Speaker Larry O. Pardilla, Senior Records Management Analyst from NAP, emphasized the essence of careful record disposal, stating, “Remember that the life of a record is irreversible, thus, we must be careful in disposing of our files and records,” during his discussion.
Among the topics Mr. Pardilla discussed were the proper use and maintenance of records, as well as the importance of a Record Disposition Program (RDP), underscoring the key requirements for a successful RDP implementation.
Moreover, he stressed the vital role of records officers and custodians in record keeping, as they are the ones who maintain and manage access to the records. In appreciation of Mr. Pardilla’s dedication to sharing his knowledge and expertise, CTU presented him with a certificate of appreciation.
The seminar-workshop brought together participants from various satellite and extension campuses of CTU, particularly records officers and custodians. They participated in interactive discussions and workshops with the speaker.
With the collaboration of CTU and NAP, participants became aware of the salient features of RA 9470 and acquired knowledge on the just record disposition.
