โAs the 2025 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week finally took place at the Ayala Malls and Seda Central Blocs, Cebu IT Park, Apas, Cebu City, on April 23-25, 2025, the BENRC of CTU Argao, among the three Cebu Technological University research centers that represented the university at the 2025 RSTIW Exhibit, showcased its innovative breadfruit products and tissue culture-produced Dendrobium orchids. โ
The BENRC food products displayed at the exhibit were all breadfruit-made goodies, including hopia classic and ube, piaya, ham and cheese muffin, macaroons, toasted mamon, and cookies.
โThis yearโs celebration carried the theme โScience, Technology, and Innovation for a Smart and Sustainable Central Visayas Blue Economyโ and was attended by CTU and other exhibitors across the region and the country, such as AFOS Foundation, DOST-PCHRD/CVCHRD, CVAARDEC, DOST PTRI, RSTL, SOFITEC, DOST-ITDI, DOST-FPRDI, MBR/HiFilm, Tsuneishi Technical Services (Phils.), Inc., PWS, and EPSON.
โAlong with BENRC, the two other research centers from the university were CTU-Argao’s Climate Change and Resiliency Center (CCRC) and CTU-San Francisco’s Center for Limnological, Aquatic Biodiversity, and Mariculture Studies (CLABMS). Moreover, Dr. Hemres M. Alburo, Dr. Steve Michael T. Alcazar, and Dr. Maximino R. Abejo III, the center directors from the aforesaid research centers were present during the 3-day exhibit. On the other hand, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Development (OVPRD), led by Dr. Pet Roey L. Pascual, personally showed support by visiting the booth site on the first day. Notably, the OVPRD had also contributed valuable input on planning and orientation prior to the event.
Aside from the Exhibits and Technology Showcases, the event also highlighted Forums on Blue Economy, AI, and Drone Tech, Youth Olympiads and Short Film Competitions, and Knowledge Sharing Sessions.
The event not only focused on human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainabilityโit also served as a platform to promote livelihoods, open new opportunities, and offer solutions for building a progressive future with a resilient blue economy.
