Cebu Technological University (CTU) received a Platinum Award and two special citation awards during the 2025 Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) Presidentsโ Summit and General Assembly held at Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay, Paraรฑaque City on April 10, 2025.
This marks the universityโs first time earning the prestigious Platinum Award, topping the Gold Awards received in previous years. The Platinum Award is the second-highest recognition awarded by IPOPHL. Engr. Ray Malonjao, ITSO Manager of CTU, formally received the awards.
In addition, CTU garnered two special citation awards: the 2024 ITSO Top Filer for Industrial Design (ID) and the 2024 ITSO Top Filer for Utility Model (UM). These awards were conferred by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to higher education institutions (HEIs) that filed and registered the highest number of utility models and industrial designs in the country within a specified period.
CTU’s Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) team launched its intellectual property filing initiatives on July 1, 2024. Despite the limited timeframe, the team successfully reached the requirements for the Platinum Award and the two special citations. These achievements were made possible through the invaluable support of CTU President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito, and former Vice President for Research and Development Dr. Adrian P. Ybaรฑez.
The IPTBM Team was led by IPTBM University Director Engr. Naomi Bajao, and driven by the joint efforts of team members: Engr. Ray Malonjao, Dr. Juvy Malonjao, Dr. Ester Medalla, Prof. Ryan Teo, Dr. Michelle Trangia, Dr. Janeth Ugang, Dr. Jivulter Mangubat, and Mr. Ian Lao, with the active cooperation and engagement of the broader CTU community.
