Barili, Cebu โ€“ Subangโ€“CTU Chapter, in collaboration with the Research and Development (R&D) Office and the College of Agriculture, Food Science, Agribusiness, and Development Communication (CAFBC), successfully held the 3rd installment of its Academic Writing Workshop Series on April 11, 2025, at the Multimedia Room of the new CAFBC Building, CTU-Barili Campus.

In her speech, Ms. Valerie U. Pascual, Chair of the Department of Agribusiness and Development Communication, emphasized the importance of academic writing as a fundamental skill for research development and career readiness.

During the morning session, Mr. Audie L. Cherry, a PhD candidate at Clemson University, explored research objectives, literature reviews, methodologies, proper citation, and the integration of AI tools for academic writing. Mr. Cherry also explained conceptual and theoretical frameworks and their relevance to building a solid research foundation.

The afternoon session was led by the second speaker, Mr. Julius C. Medellin, MSc., PFT, and OIC Chairperson of the BS in Food Technology program. His discussion centered on quantitative research, emphasizing proper data gathering, statistical treatment, and analytical methods used in scientific studies.

During the workshop, participants engaged in the open forum discussion on research structures and academic writing strategies and raised practical concerns regarding their research.

The event concluded with the awarding of tokens and certificates, followed by the closing remarks from Janica Jay P. Pahayahay, Subangโ€“CTU Volunteer Intern.

Through this workshop, CTUโ€™s constant commitment to enhancing studentsโ€™ competencies in academic writing and research through collaborative, interdisciplinary initiatives was highlighted.
