The Future Scientists and Technology Leaders of the Philippines (FSTLP) at Cebu
Technological University – Main Campus (CTU-MC) successfully hosted the Premier Research
Congress 2025 from May 7 to 9. With a strong focus on sustainability, the event highlighted
student-led multidisciplinary research aligned with global sustainable development goals.

Centered on the theme, โ€œInnovating for a Sustainable Future: Advancing Research, Technology,
and Society through Multidisciplinary Perspectives,โ€ the congress encouraged collaboration
across academic disciplines to address real-world challenges in science, technology, economy,
and enterprise. It featured a series of lectures, podium presentations, and product exhibits,
drawing participation from students, faculty, and professionals.

The event opened with an innovation lecture by Mr. Rino Cabungcal from the Department of
Science and Technology Region VII (DOST-VII), followed by oral presentations under the
Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) category.

The second day featured a keynote lecture by Mr. Christian Breth Burgos of the College of
Engineering and continued with presentations under the Economy, Enterprise, and
Sustainability (EES) category.

On the final day at the CN Building, Ms. Angelique Gacita of NOTION @ CTU led a session
titled โ€œNotion for Research,โ€ showcasing the digital tool for research organization. The day
concluded with the awarding ceremony held at Hall B, 6th Floor of the CN Building.

In the STI category, the Champion award went to the project titled โ€œDevelopment of a Machine
Learning Inverse Design Model for Circular and Elliptical Cylindrical Geometries Using CFD
Data in Cross-Flow.โ€ The first runner-up was โ€œDevelopment and User Evaluation of a
Multi-purpose Railing Table,โ€ while the second runner-up was โ€œOptimization of Split-Type AC
Placement Using a Multiobjective Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm.โ€

In the EES category, the Champion title was awarded to Eco2Bricks, a sustainable construction
material designed to promote environmentally friendly building practices. The first runner-up
was Coffee-Tea-For-U, a beverage innovation. Raisun Berry Delight, a nutritious food product,
earned the second runner-up recognition.

FSTLP President John Rowen Miano remarked that this yearโ€™s congress reached a big turnout
of participants from across the colleges.

โ€œWith 27 teams vying for top spots across two categories, it was inspiring to witness how my
passion for research is being echoed by so many young minds,โ€ said Miano. โ€œMy hope is that
they will continue the premier spirit of research beyond their academics.โ€
