Sulu State College (SSC) in Jolo, Sulu, led by its University President Dr. Charisma Ututalum, engaged in a benchmarking session with Cebu Technological University (CTU) on May 8, at the President’s Conference Room, CTU-Main.

In line with its commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth, SSC exchanged comprehensive discussions with CTU on strategic approaches and initiatives to enhance quality education, research and development, research centers, program accreditation processes, boosting industry linkages, and international rankings.

Further discussions centered on the development of an internship manual to enhance student practicum experiences, curriculum review and alignment for teacher education programs, retention policy refinement, enhanced review program for better licensure outcomes, and review of existing Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) with the Department of Education for partnership optimization.

CTU highlighted its best approaches in boosting student learning, on-the-job training (OJT), faculty development, gender-responsive initiatives, and sustainable development goals (SDGs), among other areas.

This initiative is a cornerstone of the SSC’s strategy to elevate its academic programs further, aligning with national standards and instilling a culture of excellence in teacher education. During their visit, delegates toured CTU-Main’s state-of-the-art library.

SSC delegates were Narcisa H. Mohammadhashim, Chief of Staff, and faculty members, namely Assoc. Prof. Marivel T. Sarabi, Dean, College of Teacher Education; Dr. Rasmil T. Abdurasul, Chairperson, Bachelor of Elementary Education; Prof. Anang Fatma T. Jawali, Chairperson, Bachelor of Secondary Education; Ms. Shiramie S. Juhudi, Chairperson, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education; and Ms. Ma. Luz T. Carlos, Chairperson, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.

Representing CTU President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito was the Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Ramel C. Genobiagon. Also in attendance were COED and CCICT deans, program chairpersons for ICT, Secondary and Elementary programs, and university directors for Gender and Development (GAD), Research and Development, and Information, Communication, and Public Affairs (ICPA), among others.
