โIn celebration of the 3rd National Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Exhibition (NAFTE), at least 32 exhibitors around the country, including the Biodiversity, Environment, and Natural Resources Research Center (BENRC) of the Cebu Technological UniversityโArgao Campus, gathered at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex, flaunting various innovations and technologies in agriculture and fisheries on June 19 to 21, 2025.
โDisplayed at the booth intended for Central Visayas were products from Bohol, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Cebu, including CTU-AC BENRC’s innovative breadfruit goodies such as hopia, baked doughnuts, macaroons, muffins, and cookies.
โAlso, the food creations made from chayote, except for the ketchupโthe lechon sauce and halayaโare up for the competition. The above-mentioned competing chayote products have been submitted to the Technical Committee (TECHCOM) of the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF). They are eyeing being granted a support budget amounting to โฑ5M for a span of a year.
โOn the contrary, the Vice President for Research and Development, Dr. Pet Roey Pascual, was joined by BENRC Director Prof. Hemres M. Alburo and other CTU faculty and staff from Region 7 in accommodating visiting guests where the booth was stationed during the opening day on June 19, 2025.
โThe three-day event flagged the theme โUtilizing Industry-Driven Agri-Fisheries Technologies Towards Progress.” Remarkably, the previous NAFTE was held in Cagayan de Oro City, specifically at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, while the next one is revealed to take place in Bicol Region.
