In line with the annual celebration of National Kidney Month, CTU-Main students and employees gathered for chronic kidney disease (CKD) awareness initiative led by the CTU-Main Medical Clinic and the Philippine Society of Nephrology-Central and Eastern Visayas Chapter (PSN-CEV), on June 9 at the Administration Building lobby.
Students and employees who participated in lectures received free screening tests, including blood pressure checks, blood sugar determination, blood uric acid determination, and random urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) test.
During the lectures, esteemed speaker Dr. Roldan O. Mata, FPCP, FPSN, a nephrologist and President of PSN-CEV, discussed chronic kidney disease, while Ms. Sheena O. Magbagay, a registered nutritionist and dietician, lectured on nutrition for CKD patients.
The activity, facilitated by PSN-CEV representatives and CTU Medical Officer Dr. Daisy Therese Llenes and team, underlined discussions concerning the significance of CKD as a major public health concern in the country, as well as equipping participants with knowledge on CKD prevention, early detection, and adoption of a kidney-healthy lifestyle.
