Representatives from the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) visited Cebu Technological University (CTU) for a collaborative meeting in preparation for the 31st Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF), scheduled for November 18 to 21, 2025, in Mactan, Cebu.
During the meeting, CTU officials, led by University President Dr. Joseph C. Pepito, along with Dr. Jonathan Maglasang, Engr. Rau Lance Cunanan, Engr. Andrew Jay Mugot, and Engr. Rona Joy Cabase presented an overview of the universityโs ongoing projects.
The Japanese delegation included Mariko Yamamoto and Yumiko Tateshita of the APRSAF Secretariat, and Takahiro Nakamura, Director of JAXA Bangkok Office. PhilSA was represented by Carriza Kulienne Arambulo, Sheila Samoza, Jessโs Propogo, and Babylon Erlano. Their visit stressed the essence of cooperation in promoting innovation and scientific exchange in the Asia-Pacific region.
CTU is one of the official Technical Tour sites for the upcoming APRSAF. The university will showcase its advanced research projects under the Center for Advanced Vehicle and Energy Systems (CAVES). Among the featured technologies are the Hybrid Marine Air Vehicle, designed for amphibious transport, and the Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship (MASS), a project focused on unmanned maritime navigation.
With APRSAF 2025 fast approaching, the collaborative efforts between PhilSA, JAXA, and CTU display a firm commitment to space technology development, maritime innovation, and regional collaboration. The technical tour at CTU is poised to be a highlight of the forum, showcasing Filipino ingenuity and the countryโs growing role in the space and research community.
