Cebu Technological UniversityโMain Campus, through the College of Education, proudly announces the national recognition of its GAA-funded community extension initiative, TINDUG BHWs: โTawag INisyatiba, pangalagaD inUbanag Gugma alang sa Barangay Health Workers.โ The project, led by Dr. Jabin J. Deguma, was awarded 3rd Best Extension Project Implementation under the thematic area HEALTH, NUTRITION, AND WELLNESS during the 2025 Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc. (PAEPI) International Extension Congress held on June 10 to 13, 2025 at Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.
TINDUG BHWs is a 40-hour training program implemented in Barangay Inoburan, City of Naga, Cebu, aimed at enhancing the mental health knowledge and caregiving capacity of 23 female Barangay Health Workers (BHWs). The project empowers BHWs to deliver more holistic and responsive healthcare services, fostering a mentally healthy and resilient community. With a total project cost of Php 62,472.00 sourced from the universityโs GAA funding, the initiative was carried out by the faculty and students of the BSED Values Education and MAED/Dev.Ed.D. in Guidance and Counseling programs.
In collaboration with the Inoburan Barangay Council, led by Hon. Redgie Cabisarez, the extension initiative stands as a model of effective university-community partnership. It reflects CTU’s unwavering commitment to transformative service, aligning with its vision of building empowered communities through education, health advocacy, and values-based engagement.
